Dr. Reed is a Yale and Columbia-trained physician specializing in the unique treatment needs of individuals with learning differences. She has over fifteen years of experience working with children, teenagers, and young adults with developmental and learning disorders, including autism spectrum disorder. Dr. Reed attended college at Washington University in St. Louis, where she worked as an ABA therapist for children with autism. During college, she founded a program to provide respite care to affected families. Motivated by these experiences, Hannah switched her career plans from architecture to medicine. She graduated with honors and received the Hyman Meltzer Memorial Award in Psychology.
Dr. Reed completed her pre-medical studies at Johns Hopkins University, where she was involved in research on the genetic overlap across different neuropsychiatric disorders, including OCD, ASD, and tic disorders. The following year, Dr. Reed moved to Vanderbilt University to research the impact of sleep disruptions on behavior and development in autism. Hannah continued this work while attending medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. While there, she also led advocacy projects promoting healthy early brain development in low resource settings.
Following medical school, Dr. Reed completed a combined residency and fellowship program in adult and child psychiatry at Yale University, where she served as co-chief resident during her fifth year. During this time she continued her research in early brain development and received the Solnit Research Award as well as the AACAP Early Career Research Award. To further develop her expertise, Hannah completed an advanced fellowship in developmental neuropsychiatry at Columbia University. She was also elected as a member for the autism and intellectual disability committee for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Most recently, Dr. Reed was the medical director for pediatric psychiatry at Columbia's faculty practice. At Columbia, she also served on the board for Columbia Doctors and as an assistant professor, in addition to a voluntary academic appointment at Weill Cornell's Center for Autism and the Developing Brain. With a goal of providing top-level care and support to individuals and families affected by developmental disorders, Dr. Reed created her private practice, Ivy Health, with a focus on the treatment of anxiety disorders and learning differences.
