Clinical Excellence
Outcomes are everything, and ours prove it. Every clinic in our network is held to the same standard for excellence in physical therapy, backed by real results, not just good intentions.

We Put Quality into Practice
Better Care Is Something You Build
Clinical excellence is more than just meeting a standard. It’s a quality-focused culture that starts with measuring outcomes and learning from each other’s performance. The infrastructure and systems behind that work help clinicians apply those insights over time.
We combine evidence-based practice, outcomes data, clinical expertise, technology, and a strong quality framework to deliver more consistent care across our network. For health systems, referring providers, workers’ compensation professionals, and potential partners, that means an approach to care built around measurable progress, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Hear from Dr. Dan Murrey, Chief Medical Officer, about what clinical excellence means at Ivy Health and how physician leadership strengthens this work throughout the organization.

Setting the Standard
Measuring What Matters
Strong clinical care starts with a clear understanding of what’s working and where opportunities exist.
Ivy measures adult physical therapy outcomes in core areas that matter to patients, clinicians, and partners. These include functional improvement, progress toward patient goals, pain relief, and patient satisfaction. We are also establishing and expanding pediatric therapy metrics for PT, OT, SLP, and ABA to better understand patterns, identify gaps, and strengthen quality.
Our goal is not simply to collect data. It’s to use that information to guide improvement, support clinical decision-making, and create more consistent experiences in the communities we serve.
We track the following common outcome domains at all of our clinics:
Functional Improvement
One core outcome we measure is how care helps patients improve mobility, regain strength, and return to everyday activities.
Patient Goals Met
We evaluate whether care is helping patients make measurable, meaningful progress toward the goals that matter most to them, from getting back to playing pickleball to picking up their grandchildren.
Patient Satisfaction
Experience matters. At Ivy Health, we believe it should include not only the services delivered but also compassion, empathy, and respect. Patient feedback helps us understand what’s working, where we can improve, and how to make care better.

Turning Insight Into Action
Innovation That Supports Quality Care
Technology enables our teams to coordinate within the broader healthcare ecosystem, gather meaningful information to maintain continuity of care, and support patients where they are.
Ivy invests in technology that keeps patients and clinicians connected beyond the clinic. Guided home exercise programs, remote therapeutic monitoring, and patient- and caregiver-reported outcomes help teams follow progress, make informed decisions, and strengthen communication between visits. AI-supported note-taking tools available to clinicians also reduce documentation time, giving clinicians more time to focus on patients instead of the computer.
Care doesn’t stop at the clinic door. These tools improve visibility between visits and support greater consistency in care delivery.
Standards That Support Clinical Excellence

Evidence-Based Practice
Our Ivy Health Clinical Councils bring together experienced frontline clinicians from across our network to evaluate research, build consensus, and define evidence-based care practices . Their work helps clinicians deliver consistent, high-quality care while applying their expertise to each patient’s needs.

Benchmarking and Best Practices
We use recognized standards, clinical practice guidelines, and outcomes frameworks from the APTA, AOTA, ASHA, and other specialty organizations. These resources help us validate our approach and keep care grounded in current evidence, professional expertise, and the needs of each patient.

Patient Safety and Quality Systems
We support safe, consistent care through proactive training, structured event reviews, and systems that evolve with clinical and regulatory standards. This approach strengthens accountability and helps clinicians deliver reliable, high-quality care.
How Ivy Keeps Raising the Bar
A Clinical Model Built to Keep Improving
Quality assurance ensures standards are being met. But at Ivy, we don’t just meet goals. We keep raising the bar and getting better every day.
Our teams use outcomes data to identify opportunities, develop focused action plans, and share effective practices throughout the organization. This creates a culture where learning and improvement are ongoing.
That commitment is evident in the following orthopedic physical therapy outcomes reported by our network:
- Ivy is nationally ranked in the 96th percentile for functional improvement per episode when patients complete their plan of care
- A symptom-managed approach at the beginning of the care plan reduces the likelihood of patients ending treatment early by 26%.
These results reflect meaningful progress, restored mobility, and improved quality of life. They’re supported by clinicians who are continually learning and equipped to deliver high-quality care, while preserving the local expertise and relationships that make care personal.
Partnership and Growth
Investing in the Clinicians Behind the Care
Strong clinical systems depend on skilled, well-supported clinicians. Our programs combine mentorship, advanced continuing education, standardized training, and professional development. Together, these efforts foster growth, strengthen retention, and help deliver consistently high-quality care at every clinic.
We also collaborate with healthcare organizations and universities, including the Hospital for Special Surgery, to bring added expertise and clinical insight into our network.
